    If Carlsberg did night clubs then this would be it. An iconic nightspot that was cherished by everyone in the North-east who loved rock music. Sadly it closed in 1999 to make way for The Gate retail and leisure complex. Just about every classic rock band appeared at the Mayfair during its time including AC/DC, Ozzy Ozbourne, Uriah Heep, Motorhead and many many more! If you have photo's that are not on here and would like to share your memories of the Mayfair then please drop me a line. As soon as I get enough together I will start work on it.
