"Stanhope Hall 31/1/67 GV II* House, now 3 dwellings. C16/C17, possibly incorporating earlier fabric, with alterations. Varied stone rubble with some millstone grit ashlar and quoins; ashlar dressings. Stone-flagged roof with some Welsh slate. H-plan. East elevation 3 storeys, 7 bays, the left 2 wider; one-storey, one-bay right extension. 2-storey projections flank 3 central symmetrical bays which have diagonally-boarded double door on iron brackets in chamfered Tudor-arched surround; flanking cross windows, shorter first-floor cross windows and second- floor 2-light windows, all single-chamfered with flat-fronted diamond mullions..." -
