Shotton Surface Mine

  • Description

"The huge opencast coal mine on the Blagdon Estate employs some 150 people. The earth bund in the foreground divides the mine from the adjacent Northumberlandia earth sculpture. The A1 runs between the far edge of the mine and the belt of trees which form the boundary of Blagdon Park." Photo by Oliver Dixon, 2015, and licensed for reuse under a Creative Commons Licence.
