139-159 Grainger Street, NE1

  • Description

"Built c 1836, probably by John Wardle, for Richard Grainger. Although built as houses and shops, in 1841 the central section was occupied by the Clarendon Hotel. The upper floors of most of the block were hollowed out in the 1980s to form part of the Eldon Square Centre. The buildings are Grade II listed."
