NEWCASTLE TROOPER'S DEATH FROM WOUNDS. Trooper Thos. Eric Grahame, of 86, Portland Road, Newcastle who died on Sunday at Armstrong College, from wounds received in action. Trooper Grahame, who was well known in the ear end of the town, was a native of Newcastle, and was only 29 years of age. Trooper Grahame was connected with Christ Church and the 4th Jesmond Troops of Boy Scouts, and about 18 months ago, he founded the "Lord Mayor's Own." Prior to the outbreak of war, Trooper Grahame was in business for himself as a property repairer. The internment took place yesterday, with full military honours, at All Saints' Cemetery, Jesmond, a large number of mourners and friends being present. This photograph was published in the Illustrated Chronicle on the 25th of February 1915. During the Great War the Illustrated Chronicle published photographs of soldiers and sailors from Newcastle and the North East of England, which had been in the news. The photographs were sent in by relatives and give us a glimpse into the past. The physical collection held by Newcastle Libraries comprises bound volumes of the newspaper from 1910 to 1925.
