Northumberland Baths, City Pool and City Hall, Northumberland Road

  • Description

"A panoramic view (perspective-corrected) of the front elevation of The City Pool and City Hall. These were built by C. Nicholas and J.E. Dixon Spain in 1928 in a Neo-Georgian design with a colonnaded entrance. The Pool is on the same site of older baths which had been designed by John Dobson NZ2464 : John Dobson Street in 1839, which proved unsuccessful. The Turkish bath in the current building is very much admired.
