The prosecutor said the accused had done work for him. On the 24th July he missed a brace from his office and gave information to the police. A week later he was shewn the brace in a pawnshop. Margaret Clay, mother of the accused, said that on July 22nd her son asked her to pledge a brace for a young man who had no money. He elected to take the bicycle and commenced to do the work but it was not yet finished. The Clerk (Mr R.F. Kidd): You had no right to help yourself to Mr Miller’s tools. The magistrates fined him 10s, including costs”.
