Description
Full title reads: "Newcastle. Automation Gears Up". Blaydon-on-Tyne, Near Newcastle, Tyne and Wear. GV Interior shot of the fully automatic gear processing machine in operation. SV Pan shot along the machine to general view. SV Gear on a layshaft being cut in the machine. CU Two workers looking at two layshafts, one cut and one uncut. CU One of the workers. CU Layshafts, cut and uncut. GV Elevated shot of motor manufacturers and industrial representatives from all over the world looking round the machine. SV Uncut layshafts being placed on conveyor at one end of the machine. SV An uncut layshaft, is picked up by automatic arm and swung round into position for cutting of the gears, cutting operation starts. CU Gear being cut and as it revolves water is sprayed upon it to cool it. SV Some of the visitors looking on. SV Layshaft with one gear cut, is picked up again by the automatic arm and swung back onto conveyor. CU Layshafts with one gear already cut travelling through the machine. CU Two visitors looking on. SV A cut layshaft going through the washing process. SV Visitors looking on. SV Finished layshaft being lifted up by automatic arm and placed on another part of the machine where it will run down and off the production line.
