Kurt Nielsen (Denmark) is beaten by Vic Seixas (USA) and receives cup from Duchess of Kent. Athletics at White City - International Mile won by Gordon Pirrie for Britain. At Wembley Stadium football match between Britain and Hungary with Hungary winning 6-3. Cricket - Australia against England. At the Oval Denis Compton scores winning stroke for England so the ashes are back home after 20 years.
