Royal Albert Hall in London: people sit watching a boxing match between George Cooper (dark shorts) and Private Erskine (?) in the heavyweight final of the Army Individual Open Amateur Boxing Championships. Erskine wins. General Sir John T Crocker meets players before the start of the Army Football Cup Final at Aldershot. The 7th Training Regiment Royal Signals play against the 28th Battalion RAOC. Princess Margaret is present at Wembley to see Bolton play against Blackpool in football cup final. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip (Duke of Edinburgh) also watch match. Stanley Matthews sets up ball for Perry to score winning goal for Blackpool. Matthews and team mates are congratulated by the Queen after the match. Derby Day at Epsom Downs - Pinza wins. Jockey Gordon is congratulated by the Queen, Prince Philip and Queen Mother. Wimbledon Tennis Finals - Maureen Connelly beats Doris Hart for women's title (both players USA). Kurt Nielsen (Denmark) is beaten by Vic Seixas (USA) and receives cup from Duchess of Kent. Athletics at White City - International Mile won by Gordon Pirrie for Britain. At Wembley Stadium football match between Britain and Hungary with Hungary winning 6-3. Cricket - Australia against England. At the Oval Denis Compton scores winning stroke for England so the ashes are back home after 20 years.
