    Type : Lantern Slide Description : A view of Grey Street and Grainger Street Newcastle upon Tyne taken c.1900. The photograph has been taken from Blackett Street looking down Grainger Street to the right and Grey Street to the left. Grey's Monument stands alone on a roundabout at the junction of the three roads. Eldon Buildings are in the foreground to the left. The Central Exchange Buildings can be seen behind Grey's Monument on Grey Street. The portico of the Theatre Royal can be seen in the distance. It is a busy street scene with trams travelling along the road and circling Grey's Monument. There are pedestrians crossing the roads and walking along the pavements. A policeman is standing on Blackett Street in the centre foreground.
