    Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A view of Northumberland Street Newcastle upon Tyne taken in 1968. The photograph has been taken from the junction of Pilgrim Street and New Bridge Street and is looking across to the pedestrian road bridge which crosses the bottom of Northumberland Street. There are stairs up to the bridge on both Blackett Street and New Bridge Street. Shops on the left-hand side of Northumberland Street include 'Burton' 'H. Samuel' 'Saxone' 'F. W. Woolworth' and 'Fenwick's'. The Pearl Assurance Buildings are on the corner of Northumberland Street and New Bridge Street with Cook's travel agents on the ground floor.
