To the left is the South African War Memorial and to the right buildings on Percy Street. The buildings on Percy Street include the 'ABC cinema' the 'Haymarket Hotel' and 'Thorne's Students Bookshop'.The South African War Memorial was erected in 1907. The ABC cinema opened in 1933 and was demolished in 1985. The Haymarket Hotel was demolished in 1987.
