    Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A 1985 photograph of the ABC (Haymarket) cinema Percy Street Newcastle upon Tyne. The photograph has been taken from further up Percy Street looking down towards the ABC (Haymarket) Cinema and 'Thorne's Student's Bookshop' which adjoins it. Newcastle University buildings can be seen to the right of the cinema.The Haymarket Cinema opened in 1933 and closed in 1984 when it was known as the ABC. The cinema and the other buildings on the block were demolished to make way for a car park.
