    Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A view of Gallowgate taken c.1890. The photograph is looking up Gallowgate and shows a row of buildings on the left-hand side. The buildings include '?wgate Steam Mills' which has '?derson Flour and Grocery Warehouse' (this is T Anderson, Grocer, 119 Gallowgate: information from Wards Trade Directory 1905-06) on the ground floor. There are enamel signs advertising products produced by 'Hindhaughs' attached to the walls. People are standing in the doorways and in front of the buildings. A covered cart is parked by the side of the road. An unidentified pub is on the opposite corner to the row of buildings . Leazes Park can be seen on the right-hand side of the street.
