    Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A view of the Hippodrome Theatre Northumberland Road Newcastle upon Tyne taken c.1926. The photograph shows the interior of the theatre looking from the stage towards the back of the auditorium.The Hippodrome Theatre opened in 1909 as 'The White City' - it was used as a roller skating rink then as a dance hall. In 1912 the building was partly rebuilt the dome was removed and the building was renamed the Hippodrome.
