This is a photograph of sisters and nurses dressed in costume for a Christmas performance at 3rd Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. The photograph was taken in December 1916 and offers a caring and humorous impression of the women working in the Hospital. Reference: DF.BGS-4-7-3 The photograph is part of a larger collection that shows a rare and intimate glimpse in to the Life of a Wounded Soldier recovering from the horrors of World War One. This particular set of photographs is taken from a collection held at Tyne & Wear Archives capturing the every day lives of the nurses and patients at the 3rd Northern General Hospital, Sheffield and Longshaw Lodge Convalescent Home for Wounded Soldiers, Grindleford, near Sheffield.
