International Research Impact: http://bit.ly/impact-yt Ian McKeith, Professor of Old Age Psychiatry at Newcastle University explains research that led to the first diagnosis and treatment of dementia with Lewy bodies, a condition which is now known to be the second most frequent cause of degenerative dementia. The DaTSCAN brain imaging technique is demonstrated at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, which forms part of Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and is where many patients are treated.
