Steel paddle and chain tow tugs built in 1894 by the prominent British shipbuilder Sir WG Armstrong, Mitchell & Co Ltd at their Low Walker yard on the River Tyne for the Government of Russia (Ministry of Ways & Communications) to serve on Siberian rivers in direct connection with the development of the Trans-Siberian Railway We are delighted to share images from the 15 Photographic Folios we hold at the City Library, ships built by Armstrong, Mitchell, Whitworth and Company Ltd. between 1880 and 1931. These images are, to the best of our knowledge, in the public domain. You are welcome to use them in any way you like – we would love it if you could say you got them from the Newcastle City Library Photographic Collection. We will be adding more images soon We are unable to provide High Quality Digital copies of these images. -
