    House, C17 heightened and remodelled in mid-C18, rear wing heightened in late C19. Front squared stone with tooled dressings, returns and outbuildings rubble, rear wing partly snecked stone; blue slate roof. L plan. 2 storeys, 3 bays, symmetrical. Central flush-panelled door with 2-pane overlight in C19 raised stone surround with pilasters and cornice.... The stepped pedimented gables (c.f. also The Delaval Arms, Hartley) show the influence of Vanbrugh's style at Seaton Delaval Hall......
