  • Description

    Christ Church, New Seaham was built by Lady Frances Anne Vane, 3rd Marchioness of Londonderry in 1856 in remembrance of her husband who died in 1854. The foundation stone was laid on 13th August 1855 and it was consecrated by the Bishop of Durham on 21st November 1860. The new community was within the parish of St. Mary the Virgin at (Old) Seaham until the building of New Seaham Christ Church in 1857 and the creation of a new parish in 1864
