Steamer Pier and Belsfield Hotel - c.1925

  • Description

Looking south-east, probably from a lake steamer on Bowness pier at the pier house ('Bowness Station') with the Belsfield Hotel behind. On the pier, several distinctive Furness Railway 'squirrel' benches may be seen. To the right, rowing boats are pulled upon to the foreshore while a cyclist is seen behind where the Promenade curves into the Newby Bridge road. A single man stands outside the pier house beneath a flagstaff where the Union Flag flies.
