Wetheral

  • Description

    Quarry inscriptions cut into the rock face above the River Eden, south of Wetheral. These are RIB 1005 which reads leg(ionis) XX V(aleriae) V(ictricis) Condrausius or 'Condrausius from the Twentieth Legion Valeria Victrix' and 1006 which reads II or '2'. Looking W Handbook p.329
