Lanes-side barn near Whale, Cumbria

  • Description

"This is a monument to stone masonry of a bygone age. Look at the sharp, perfect corners and the various inbuilt vents to admit the drying winds but not the rain. Note the equidistant, protruding stones around the building. What is their function? Could this be a substitute for a lack of scaffolding during the building process." Photo by Des Colhoun, 2016.
