Waverley Hotel (later Rex Hotel), Whitley Bay. Pre-1937

  • Description

Photo of the Waverley Hotel, Whitley Bay (unatributed photographer). It was originally built in 1906 as a small temperance hotel by the Waverley Hotel Company. The Waverley was a success, and expanded along the promenade to become a 150 bedroom hotel. This photo is prior to 1937, when the hotel obtained a license to sell alcohol and its name was changed to the Rex Hotel.
