Consent obtained to restore Rigmaden Bridge in Kirby Lonsdale

    1 September 2023: "...Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority have granted Westmorland and Furness Council Listed Building consent to undertake strengthening works to Rigmaden Bridge. The bridge was closed in December 2021 following an inspection and structural assessment which identified structural issues, making it unsafe for vehicles and pedestrians. The council has worked collaboratively with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to agree a proposed solution that will retain the external appearance of the bridge whilst improving its structural capacity. The team will now develop a viable construction programme and identify costs associated with delivering the scheme. The bridge will remain closed until further notice to ensure public safety, however it remains our intention to restore Rigmaden Bridge....
