Moore Memorial Fountain Wigton Cumbria

    The Moore Memorial is an iconic feature of Wigton, built on the site of an earlier market cross. It is inscribed: "THIS MEMORIAL WAS ERECTED BY GEORGE MOORE OF WHITEHALL, HIGH SHERIFF OF CUMBERLAND AD 1872, IN LOVING MEMORY OF HIS WIFE, ELIZA, WHO DIED ON THE 4TH OF DECEMBER, 1858". In 2004 the memorial was restored the Solway Historical Society. The memorial is Grade II listed.
