    "Built c 1839 for Richard Grainger. The street was named after John Lionel Hood, mayor of Newcastle 1834-5. The building is a plain section of nine bays (three houses) wide, with a small domestic scale porch. The three houses were converted into the Tyne Hotel before becoming a private club in the 1970s.
