Tram on Walney Bridge

  • Description

Photo, post 1911. Tram No. 16 heads across a fairly new Walney Bridge to Amphitrite (possibly misspelled as Amphritrite) Street (after first journeys made in August 1911). Workmen are standing, even on the crowded upper deck, while others walk home from work. The chimneys of Barrow industry make for an interesting skyline.....Image from the Sankey Family Photograph Collection (c/o Cumbria Archives), available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) licence.
