  • Description

"The train is coming off the Carlisle avoiding-line, heading towards London Road Junction, then to the ex-Midland Settle & Carlisle main line towards Leeds. The two parallel lines come from Carlisle Citadel Station. Largely hidden by the smoke are three parallel railway over-bridges, carrying respectively: the ex-LNW lines from Crown Street Goods; the WCML from Carlisle Citadel Station to Lancaster and the South; the ex-Maryport & Carlisle Cumbrian Coast lines. The Citadel Station is also hidden by the smoke. The locomotive is BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92111 (built 12/56, withdrawn 10/67).
