When Fortune Turns the Wheel | Songs of England #3 | Hadrian's Wall

  • Description

In this new series in collaboration with The Nest Collective, we explore the stories behind traditional English folk songs that have connections to historic places. The wall that marked the northern frontier of the Roman Empire in Britain was built by men from across what is now Europe, Iraq and even the Sahara Desert. These were people transported thousands of miles from their homes to a new and unfamiliar world. When Fortune Turns the Wheel is a traditional parting song that speaks of friends saying goodbye before going their own ways, and of the hope that one day their paths will cross once more.
