The Cumberland Plate (1939)

  • Description

Various shots of horse race in progress in Carlisle, Cumbria. The race is won by 'Master Bimbo'. Cataloguer's note: The commentator also mentions a horse called 'Appeasement'. He says of the horse, ".. there is also another horse called 'Appeasement', nobody knows why he isn't favourite." Possibly in reference to the National Government's unpopular appeasement policy towards Germany. FILM ID:1017.01 A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
