LYCH GATE TO CHURCH OF ST MARY THE VIRGIN - Stannington - List Entry

    Lych Gate, dated 1893 on rear tie-beam. Given by Viscount Ridley. Oak on squared stone base; red tile roof. Four-gabled. 4-steps up to double gates, with downswept top rail and round-topped stiles, under pointed arch. Slightly- cambered tie beam with inscription, below carved corbel carrying figure with book under traceried canopy. Carved bargeboards; finial with wrought-iron cross fleury. Sides show studding and open panels with traceried heads....
