"This Grade II listed bridge crosses the River Irthing. It was constructed in 1753, part of the Military Road from Carlisle to Newcastle. It was bypassed in the 1970s but the old loop of road has only been closed to traffic fairly recently, by gates at either end http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1447416 ."
