    "Metal post with attached metal plate by the A697, in parish of LONGHORSLEY (CASTLE MORPETH District), North of "Bellamour", on verge, on East side of road. Smith Patterson iron shield, erected by the Morpeth to River Beamish turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- CORNHILL {<-arrow} 36 MORPETH 8 {arrow->} (On plate attached to post) W 23 Maker:- SMITH PATTERSON LTD OF BLAYDON Grade II listed.
