Description
"...Old Hartley school was opened as a colliery school in 1876 and the building was destroyed by fire. A new school was built in 1911 on a framework with asbestos blocks as a fire resisting building. A new infants school opened in 1904. The school closed in July 1969 and the remaining pupils were transferred to schools in Seaton Sluice...." Northumberland archives: Acc No: NRO 586,490,947 -
