BARN AT TOWN END - Troutbeck - List Entry

    "On east side of the road opposite Town End. Has a panel dated 1666. Stone rubble, old roof of graded slates. 2 gabled wings with arrow slits, shippons below, lofts above. Earth ramp between the wings leads up to barn doors on upper level, and a wooden gallery with arched braces leads to the lofts of the wings, with wood mullioned windows. Interior has queen post roof. A later stone barn added to south, with a lean-to canopy over the entrance, with arrow slits and doors to stables and lofts...."
