    "Inn, probably 1839. Rubble, front rendered, raised tooled and margined quoins and dressings. Slate roof, coped gables with kneelers and stone stacks, brick ridge stacks. 3 storeys, 3 irregular bays. Central bay has doorway, now blocked, between fluted Doric pilasters carrying entablature which extends above flanking renewed shop windows....Right return has later openings and stone inscribed perhaps re-set. D A. L. 1839...."
