Ice draped grave cross

    There was something Dickensian about this cross, and the entire churchyard in fact. It was quite a long way from even a single-lane country road and in the winter sun and freezing conditions there was a monotone atmosphere, broken only by the blue sky. The village of Addingham lay near the River Eden but was lost centuries ago when the river changed its course. The church was rebuilt using some stones from the original and the name kept for the parish.
