Dalston: St Michael

  • Description

Church Heritage Record #607098 " Externally St. Michael's is particularly noteworthy for its double open bell-cote (C19th) above massive buttresses to the west gable wall which in turn flank the blocked C18th entrance. Stonework is of coursed red sandstone block and with roof slopes of random and diminishing slate. Internally the roof to the nave and north and south aisles is particularly unusual. The nave and aisles are spanned by braced collar tie trusses supported on relatively slender oak posts..."
