"Market Hall, now library; c.1687, when market charter obtained by Philip, Lord Wharton. Later additions and alterations. Coursed rubble with quoins. Hipped, graduated slate roofs with stone ridges. 2 low storeys, 4 bays overall. 3-bay arcade to both south and east-sides: Semicircular arches carried on squat columns...." -
