"Remains of a Medieval fulling mill were identified by Coquetdale Community Archaeology group in 2010. The mill has been suspected for some time: an entry in the the Newminster Chartulary of 1226 mentions a millpond, and the 19th century, writer David Dippie Dixon claimed the foundations of ancient building were visible when the water was low and clear.
