Eldon Parish Council

  • Description

"....Eldon Parish Council lies in the semi rural Dene Valley, between the towns of Shildon and Bishop Auckland, in the south of County Durham. The main settlement dates back to the nineteenth century and the mining boom, but Old Eldon, which also lies within the Parish, has some handsome old stone houses and contained a former medieval village. Any traces of coal mining are long gone and today we are surrounded by attractive countryside, yet have the benefit of major shopping centres, recreational facilities and other major services close at hand...."
