NORTH SECTION OF RAILWAY BRIDGE, 150 METRES SOUTH OF EAST THICKLEY GRANGE - List Entry

    "2 left sections of accommodation bridge across Shildon sidings. 1857 by Harris of Stockton. Sandstone and brick piers. Cast-iron bridge span. 2 hammer-dressed stone piers with rock-faced quoins and brick upper section support span. 15-metre long span, in single casting, has transverse segmental tunnel vaults of brick, cambered top, low railings and a plaque bearing maker's name and date. Short section, attached to right, has semicircular tunnel arch of brick and a later brick parapet above a tooled-and-margined stone band. Similar end pier to right. Listed for historical/structural interest as a single casting of exceptional length...."
