Description
"Osberwick, or Newstead, settlement is documented from 1279 through to the 19th century. In the early 19th century the village was reorganised and smallholdings were allotted to cottagers. A plan of 1815 shows only one farm and four cottage holdings remaining. A possible alternative site of the village has been identified to the west...." -
