Tithe Barn, Heads Lane, Carlisle

  • Description

"This was the tithe barn of St Mary's Priory and dates from the time of Prior Gondibour, c1470. The new work on the left is part of the 1969-71 restoration when it was converted into parish rooms of St Cuthbert's Church. The gable end had been demolished in 1875 due to the precarious condition of the masonry. Listed Grade I. " Photo by Alan Murray-Rust, 2018.
