    Amazing photo - thanks for sharing this Discover North Tyneside! When I moved to Whitley Bay many years ago I saw the hexagonal concrete bases for the chalets and presumed that they were old gun emplacements from the Second World War! I was later surprised to find out that they were for holiday chalets, which were on rails so that they could be turned to face the sun! I'd never seen a photo of the actual chalets until seeing this one. Love it!
