School Green Sculpture at Longhoughton

  • Description

"Erected by Longboughton Parish Council in 2004. The cross by Gilbert Ward was created of Doddington Sandstone to remind us of the Celtic traditions of the village where the holy pilgrimage from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne to Durham passed through. It was created to look as though it had been broken and is on the site of an ancient Celtic cross." Photo by James Denham, 2014.
