Broad Oak farmhouse from the east

  • Description

"Broad Oak stands by itself on the north side of the river Derwent between the villages of Blackhall Mill and Ebchester. This section of land beside the river was part of the Hedley Manor in the middle ages, and known as Hedley Woodside. It had been created as a clearing from the forest. Broad Oak probably goes back to those times, but the present farmstead is of mid C19 origin." Photo by Robert Graham, 2019.
