    "Dam. 1775 by Smeaton for John Archbold of Acton and Edward Cook of Brainshaugh, repaired and cement skirt constructed 1926. Squared stone. Horseshoe dam with 2.4 metres fall and 51.8 metres radius of curvature, with vertical front and face and battered rear; adjacent riverside retaining wall on south has boarded sluice to millrace immediately upstream of dam...."
