Brougham Castle

  • Description

We've driven past this castle on the A66 for years but this is the first time we've stopped and explored. We were the only people visiting and it is a very attractive ruin to explore. Unusually you can climb up the keep to the top of the building for views towards Penrith, over the river Earmont and to the adjacent remains of the Roman fortress camp.
